It gives me great pleasure as the Honorary Secretary of AUGIS to welcome you to Cork for the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place at the Rochestown Park Hotel, 21 – 22 September 2017. It is even more special for me, as having trained and been a consultant surgeon in London but now relocated back to my hometown of Cork. The programme, which has been compiled with the help of Mr. Mark Taylor, AUGIS Education and Training Lead, promises to be an exciting one, with parallel sessions for oesophago-gastric, hepatobiliary & pancreatic, and bariatric surgery. There will also be parallel sessions for allied health professionals.
Whilst the programme promises to be very exciting, we also have a very special evening by means of the annual gala dinner, which will take place in the old Cork Women’s Jail. This will be a unique environment for a very special dinner and entertainment. Tickets are limited and priced at £70 each. Click here to register to attend the Gala Dinner
For those of you wishing to stay on in Cork, either before or after the meeting, there is Cork City and Cork County (click on links to view further information) with interesting places to visit, please visit the Staying in Cork page of this website. For those of you wishing to experience the city in all of its cultural glory, I would direct you to the website or app store to view the aptly named “The People’s Republic of Cork” which gives up-to-date information on restaurants, theatre, music, arts, etc., that are taking place in the city every evening.
Finally, I would like to warmly welcome you to Cork and hope you can join us for what promises to be an exciting meeting from not only a scientific but also social and cultural point of view.
I look forward to seeing you in Cork.
Mr. Adrian O’Sullivan MD, BSc, FRCSI
AUGIS Honorary Secretary
Chair of Local Organising Committee
