Clinical interests
My major interest is laparoscopic HPB surgery. I am the Upper GI clinical lead for Southampton University Hospital. I have a particular interest in the development of laparoscopic major hepatectomy and training in laparoscopic HPB surgery. My other HPB interests include multi modality management of neuroendocrine tumours and application of tele medicine in surgical specialities.
Other roles
I have been the surgical representative on the National HRG Expert Working Groups for chapters F and G (oesophago-gastric and HPB surgery) since 2005.
AUGIS role
My intention is to work within Augis to improve opportunities for advanced laparoscopic HPB training and to work to consolidate the long term position of Upper GI surgery within the NHS through improvements in national commissioning to ensure better recognition and appropriate funding of sub-specialist services.
