Information for Authors
General information
Submitted abstracts or abstracts/DVD will be assessed by the Council and allocated on the basis of the scores to Plenary, Short Papers (oral), Posters sessions or DVD sessions. Submissions may be in the categories of Oesophagogastric, Hepatopancreatobiliary or Bariatric. Abstracts of a general upper GI nature should be submitted in the most appropriate or any category. For abstract/DVD submissions an abstract describing the presentation should be submitted and a DVD submitted to the AUGIS office. Abstracts should not have been presented elsewhere at the time of submission. Please note that all accepted abstracts, whether for oral presentation, poster or DVD presentation, will be published in the AUGIS Programme and on the British Journal of Surgery website (citable).
Plenary and Short Paper Presentations
All presentations throughout the meeting will be delivered using PowerPoint format and authors will be sent detailed guidelines prior to the conference.
Presentations by Trainees in the Plenary Session will be eligible to receive the British Journal of Surgery Prize.
Poster Presentations
Posters will be displayed for the duration of the meeting. Poster presenters will be sent detailed guidance notes on the poster rounds and adjudication in advance of the Scientific Meeting. The three best posters will be selected for a 5 minute presentation on the last day of the meeting.
DVD Presentations
At the 2011 meeting a DVD presentation session will be organised. Selected DVDs will be shown. If you would like to submit a video/DVD, please submit an abstract and state that a video/DVD is a component. The entire presentation including Videos/DVDs should be a maximum of 10 minutes. DVDs are the preferred format and two copies should be sent to Harriet Innes at the AUGIS Office (address below) before the abstract submission deadline.

All authors who have abstracts accepted for the Scientific Meeting are encouraged to submit a manuscript to the British Journal of Surgery at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bjs for consideration for publication in the Journal.
This year AUGIS are working with Scienceposters, a professional poster design and/or print company to provide an optional poster service. Discounts are available if abstracts are sent to them by the Thursday 1 September and a free delivery service to Belfast is also available.
