Presidential Introduction

Graeme Poston - President AUGIS I'm looking forward to meeting many of you in Belfast in September.

We will be joined by the Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic Gastrointestinal Surgical Societies, as well as the British Hernia Society for a meeting themed on ‘Quality and Outcomes in Upper GI Surgery’.

As before there will be a plenary short paper session for the BJS prize, in addition to a parallel paper session for OG, Bariatric and HPB topics. Once again there will be a short paper session for our Affiliate members which was very popular in Oxford so please encourage all your specialist nurses to submit with a view to attending our meeting in Belfast.

The provisional programme, which will be updated as it develops will be sent out to all members in due course. The AUGIS microsite is now available and gives delegates access to all the necessary information for the AUGIS Meeting, including the submission of abstracts and registering for the conference in Belfast. Please click on the link below to gain access to the microsite.

Declan Carey, our Local Organiser, has put together an excellent social programme which includes the Annual Dinner which will take place at the Ulster Transport Museum. I hope I shall see as many of you as possible in Belfast.

With best wishes

Yours faithfully,

Signature

Graeme Poston
President, AUGIS
