Mr Richard Krysztopik – South West representative

Undergraduate Training:
I graduated from Manchester University Medical School.

Postgraduate Training:
My surgical training was in the North West and South West of England, and Adelaide, South Australia.

My research intomicrocirculatory responses to sepsis was in Louisville, Kentucky. This work lead to award of MD from Manchester University.

Current Post:
Consultant Upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and Bristol Royal Infirmary – since 2002.

Clinical Interest:
Laparoscopic Upper GI surgery. I have a particular interest in surgery for reflux disease and oesophago-gastric cancer.

I am Lead Clinician for Upper GI cancer for the RUH in Bath and part of the team performing major cancer resections in our regional centre.

Other roles:
I am currently the SW representative on the NCIN Upper GI Clinical Reference Group.

AUGIS Role:
As South West Regional Representative my intention is to work with clinicians in our region to share and promote best practice.
