President's Message
Dear Colleague,
I am delighted to invite you to Oxford for AUGIS’ 14th Annual Scientific Meeting to be held on 9th and 10th September 2010. Prof John Primrose has put together an exciting programme with well-known National and International speakers in all areas of Upper GI surgery. It will be a great pleasure to welcome Don Low (Seattle, USA), Rene Adam (Paris, France), and Ugo Boggi (Piza, Italy) who have all confirmed their attendance. As yet we await confirmation from other invited speakers on bariatric surgery. This year there will again be both plenary and parallel sessions involving HPB, Oeosphago-gastric and Bariatric topics, with separate Affiliates sessions, following the success of this development last year.
The Local Organiser is Nick Maynard, who is also putting together the Training Day on Wednesday 8th September, which promises to live up to the high standards set last year in Nottingham. The Annual Dinner will be held in the Great Hall of Christ Church, famous, amongst many things, for being used in the first Harry Potter film as the Hogwart’s dining hall. Accommodation has already been reserved in Christ Church, in addition to many other excellent venues within close proximity of the Examinations School, where the Scientific Meeting will be held.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Oxford. Please encourage as many of your team to come too, especially Trainees and Affiliates.

Simon Paterson-Brown
President, AUGIS
