My name is Orla Evans and I am the Principal GI dietitian at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. I have been working in the NHS for over 15 years, 11 of these in Upper GI Surgery. During my time at St Thomas’ I have developed a comprehensive dietetic pathway for patients undergoing surgery for oesophagogastric cancer, which incorporates prehabilitation, enhanced recovery and survivorship.

Along with the CNS, I set up and developed the CNS/Dietitian led follow up model. I am the dietetic representative on the AUGIS Council, and the South East Thames region AHP AUGIS representative. As such, this is an opportunity to work with AUGIS to raise the profile of dietetics and ensure that it receives appropriate representation in AUGIS activities. I hope to develop an AUGIS network of dietitians nationally, who can then work collaboratively to develop guidance, pathways, resources, and hopefully in time work towards opportunities to undertake multicentre projects/research.

If you have any queries please contact  Nichola Bartlett, Specialty Manager, in the AUGIS office.
