Nick Everitt

AUGIS Regional Representative: Trent

Medical School and Training
I graduated from Sheffield University and pursued my surgical training in the Yorkshire and Trent regions. As one of the last ‘traditional’ Senior Registrars, I benefited from a comprehensive training in the general surgical subspecialities, including both oesophagogastric and pancreatobiliary surgery.

Consultant post
Consultant in General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Chesterfield Royal Hospital since 1999.

Other clinical interests
My other clinical interests include nutritional support and critical care in the surgical patient. I have led a MDT for all upper gastrointestinal tumours for more than ten years. My non-clinical interests include clinical governance and directorate management.

Close working relationships with colleagues in regional cancer centres, combined with local experience of the re-organisation of cancer services have given me particular insight into the interests of both secondary and tertiary care teams. I am a firm believer in the importance of the development of mutually beneficial collaborative care.

Augis role
Regional Representative – Trent

Interests outside of medicine
My leisure interests include skiing and ski-mountaineering, together with dinghy and off-shore sailing; all of which I pursue with enthusiasm if not flair.
