AUGIS CNS and Allied Health Professional Committee

Mission Statement

The AUGIS CNS/AHP council is made up of CNSs and dietitians regional representatives who work in Upper GI Surgery and share a common interest in the improving patient services and professional support through national collaboration.  The aims of the group are to:

  • Raise the profile of AHPs and CNSs in this field and to ensure that these roles are  reflected across all aspects of AUGIS work
  • To establish a wider network of CNSs and AHPs working in Upper GI surgery across the UK and Ireland, to work collaboratively to:
    • Develop resources (patient information leaflets, diet sheets)
    • Develop best practice guidance and consensus statements
    • Provide professional support through a forum where questions and queries can be proposed and discussed
  • Establish a programme of CNS/AHP educational events to support the training and development of junior CNS and AHPs new to the area.

  • CNS/AHP Representative on AUGIS Council and HPB CNS, Aintree

Alex McAfee

  • HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Belfast Trust in Northern Ireland.  With the help of Alex’s colleague Laura Millar,  a MacMillan HPB Nurse they cover Surgery in the Mater Hospital, Oncology in the CIty Hosptial and Hepatology Interventional Radiology in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
