Scientific Programme

We are delighted that the meeting will include contributions from the Dutch Society of GI Surgeons (NVGIC) and we are really looking forward to welcoming our colleagues from Netherlands to Oxford and the 26th AUGIS Annual Scientific Meeting. 

  

Here you can find out more about the AUGIS Annual Scientific Meeting programme for the three day meeting (27 - 29 September 2023).

The meeting commences on Wednesday 27 September with plenary sessions and we are very excited to welcome Professor Adrian Hill (Director of the Jenner Institute) who will talk about Developing a COVID 19 Vaccine and Richard Meddings, Chair of NHS England delivering a talk on The NHS at 75 and where to from here?. The day continues with talks on Resilience and Leadership and a session on Complex Abdominal Wall Hernias. It will also be an opportunity to hear the presentations from the Abstract Oral Prize winners. 

On Thursday 28 September, the day commences at 8am with the Meet the Experts Sessions for the various sub-specialties. The main meeting then commences at 9am with parallel sessions in OG Cancer, Benign OG, HPB, and Bariatrics. The parallel sessions will include the sub-specialty oral presentation sessions. Our AHP and CNS' will also have a parallel session on the Thursday morning (from 08:50- 1pm), after which there is the opportunity to attend the other parallel sessions.

Friday 29 September will include the final plenary sessions of the meeting, starting the day with Dutch and British Surgical Audits and Registries, this will be followed by Equality, diversity and inclusiveness and we really hope as many of our delegates as possible can attend this important session. Finally the day finishes off with Novel innovations to reduce anastomotic leak, rounding off the 26th AUGIS Annual Scientific Meeting at the Examination School in Oxford.

Thursday 28th September sees the meeting split into 5 different parallel sessions: 

  • Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Nurse Specialists (AHPs & CNS')
  • Bariatrics
  • Benign OG
  • Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB)
  • OG Cancer
