We are happy to announce that the third 'Fundamentals of Liver Surgery Course' will take place on the 27 April, 2023 at BOWA MEDICAL UK in Devon. The course is specifically designed for SpRs/equivalent grades who are due to start, or already are on their first HPB job. The first ‘Fundamentals of Pancreatic Surgery Course’ will also be piloted on 28 April, 2023 at the same venue.

This course will cover both theoretical knowledge and hands-on technical skills that will provide you with the appropriate tools, to enable you to get the best out of your HPB rotation.

AUGIS North West Regional Meeting

Friday 10 March, 13:30 – 20:00  

Cheadle Village Hotel, Cheadle Road, Cheadle 

This educational meeting is aimed at upper UGI consultants, trainees and allied health professionals.   There are a variety of talks spanning the breath of UGI surgery for trainees and consultants at all levels.   The Best Timed Pathway workshop aims to bring together allied health professionals from across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside (dieticians, specialist nurses and all those involved in cancer pathways) to share best practice & improve the care for oesophagogastric cancer patients.   There will be hands on experience for trainees of an innovative laparoscopic simulator that could potentially be integrated into modular training programmes.

GBIHPBA Meeting 2023

 
Save the Date: Thursday 20 - Friday 21 April 2023

We are delighted to be organising our next GBIHPBA meeting in April next year in Leeds, Yorkshire. This scientific meeting is aimed for both consultants and trainees, which will also include an update in the management of HPB Cancers, debates on controversial topics and also a focus on surgical outcomes. The evidence for the role of liver transplantation in the oncological management of HPB cancers are also presented.  In addition, there will also be multi-disciplinary team discussions and management of complex cases. With the increase in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, lectures on specific themes are discussed. A tremendous amount of effort has gone into ensuring an educational programme that includes a wide range of topics are discussed in this meeting.

There will be various registration options, including registering for the meeting day only and also registration to include accommodation and the Gala Dinner. Further details will be publicised shortly.

OG Robotic Consensus Meeting

Monday 16th January 2023

Royal College of Surgeons of England

Robotic surgery is becoming increasingly popular amongst upper gastrointestinal surgeons specialising in oesophageal and gastric disease. We are excited to announce that AUGIS will be holding a meeting on the 16th January at the Royal College of Surgeons for all surgeons interested in performing robotic surgery in this area. We will cover training, implementation and governance.

There will be presentations from industry partners and opportunity to meet with the robotic teams as well as surgeons experienced with these platforms. In the afternoon there will be an open forum to discuss safe implementation and governance of robotic surgery in the UK. This will lead to an AUGIS statement guiding clinicians on robotic surgery in their respective trusts. We welcome both experienced and inexperienced surgeons to partake in this important meeting designing the future of robotic OG surgery in the UK.

For consultant non-members the cost to attend is £50 and for trainee surgeon non-members the cost is £25.
