Peter Lamb

I have been a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh since 2008. I strongly believe AUGIS should represent and bring together all branches of Upper GI Surgery and be inclusive for all members of the multidisciplinary team. My clinical practice reflects this and includes OG cancer surgery, bariatric surgery, hiatal surgery and emergency surgery. I am currently Upper GI Chair of South East Scotland Cancer Network. I am committed to education and training as an educational supervisor, editor of the Oesophagogastric Surgery Volume of the Companion Series, and as a previous local organiser of the national AUGIS meeting.

Summer Update

It has been a good year for AUGIS members in Scotland. There was a high turnout at the very successful Oxford national AUGIS meeting in September. Locally we held a hands-on laparoscopic training day for higher surgical trainees, and a bariatric training day is taking place at RCS Edinburgh in June. The clinical nurse specialist group has continued to be active. A national one day educational event covering the breadth of Upper GI Surgery is planned at the end of the year in conjunction with the Roux Group. In September we look forward to the ISDE meeting coming to the UK for the first time when it is hosted in Edinburgh, followed by another exciting AUGIS national meeting in Manchester.
