Roux Group Weekend 2023

Thank you to all who attended the Roux Weekend at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwickshire from the 17 - 18 March 2023. 

Following the success of the Roux Weekend 2023, we are pleased to announce that we have secured the dates at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth for next year. The Roux weekend 2024 will take place on 22/23 March 2024 and we are looking forward to seeing you all there. Work on next year’s programme is already underway and we are aiming to have a preliminary programme available by AUGIS’ annual scientific meeting in September (27-29th September 2023, Examination School, Oxford).

Pre-Meeting Skills Courses

Delegates for the Roux Weekend can also book onto the Pre- Meeting skills courses. There will be the option of joining either the Laparoscopic Surgical Skills Course or the Endoscopic Skills Course. Both course will be taking place at Chesford Grange Hotel from 09:00 - 12:00 on Friday 17 March prior to the start of the Roux Weekend Meeting. 

The Pre-Meeting skills courses are only open to delegates attending the Roux Weekend (so you must ensure that you have registered for the weekend meeting) and there is a maximum capacity of 20 delegates. There is a charge of £25 to attend the morning which is refundable for Roux Group Members upon attendance. We look forward to welcoming you there!

Pre-Weekend Laparoscopic Skills Course 

Calling all junior trainees - aimed at medical student to CT2 level. We also welcome AHPs. This course will be held at Chesford Grange from 9am-12noon on 17th March, before the main Roux Meeting commences. It focuses on the basic skills and knowledge required for laparoscopic surgery and will include a number of skills stations and simulated procedures. There will be plenty of opportunity to network over coffee and to practise laparoscopy.

There is a limit of 12 places  on this course (only delegates attending the Roux Weekend may apply) and a course fee of £25.

Pre-Weekend Endoscopic Skills Course

The Endoscopic Skills Course is aimed at trainees of all levels with the aim of developing both basic and more advanced endoscopic techniques.

You can expect a review of basic gastroscopy skills and techniques as well as the chance to try some more advanced endoscopic skills including ERCP cannulation, stone extraction and stenting. An experienced faculty will be on hand to discuss everything endoscopy from getting your basic numbers to developing more advanced interests. 

There is a limit of 12 places  on this course (only delegates attending the Roux Weekend may apply) and a course fee of £25.

Registration

Registration for this meeting is for AUGIS Members and we are also opening registration to non-member Trainees this year.  

If you are an AUGIS member you will need to include your AUGIS Membership number when registering to get your membership registration rate. 

The registration fee for AUGIS Trainee Members is £200 and this will cover the meeting on the Friday 17 March and Saturday 18 March, the Roux Group Gala Dinner on the evening of Friday 17 March and overnight accommodation at The Chesford Grange Hotel, including breakfast on the Saturday morning. 

We are also offering day  - only rates for those who wish to attend the meeting element only. The day only rate will not include any accommodation or the Gala Dinner.

If your abstract has been accepted for Oral Presentation you should have received email confirmation from AUGIS to confirm. 

Information for presenting Authors

Accepted abstracts will be for Oral Presentation at the meeting and submitting authors will be required to register and attend the Roux Weekend. 

Oral Presentations will take place on Friday 17 March from 16:45 - 18:15.

  •  All presentations are to be compiled using Power Point and should be saved to a USB stick. Any video/film content should be supplied separately, and not embedded within the presentation.
  •  Please ensure you name your presentation as follows: Surname_Programme No_: eg: Bartlett_CS1
  • Please ensure that your presentations and/or videos are in 16:9 ratio
  • Please ensure you bring your presentation to the room prior to the start of the session for it to be uploaded.

Please note that refunds will not be made on any registration or fees cancelled after 15th February 2023.

Cancellations made before 16 February 2023 will be subjective to a 10% administrative charge.
